Treatment Instructions
Do not schedule important social activities, meetings, etc., immediately after your procedure. It is best to schedule facial treatments at least 2 weeks prior to a major event such as a wedding or Birthday party.
If you exercise daily, do so before your treatment appointment, and avoid exercise for 24 hours after your treatment.
Do not use or consume aspirin, alcohol, NSAIDs (ibuprofen, Naprosyn, etc.), vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, Omega 3’s, and St. John’s Wort for 10 days prior to your scheduled treatment.
If you have a history of herpes simplex (cold sores), and you are having your lips treated, prophylactic antiviral therapy is recommended. We can prescribe an antiviral for you if necessary.
Avoid smoking, vaping, or nicotine products for 48 hours prior to treatment, and 7 days following your treatment.
Arrive with clean skin.
Pre-Treatment Instructions:
- Begin taking Arnica Montana supplements 1-4 days before injections to help minimize bruising and swelling.
- Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks before any special events.
- Reschedule your appointment if you have a rash, cold sore, or break out in the treatment area.
Post-Treatment Instructions for NEUROMODULATORS – Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau, and Daxxify:
- We will do our best to prevent bruising during your treatment, however bruising in treated areas is considered a normal risk.
- Avoid straining, heavy lifting, vigorous exercise, extreme heat and sun exposure for 12 hours after treatment.
- Avoid rubbing the treated areas, strenuous exercise, saunas, for at least 24 hours.
- Do not undergo facial/laser treatments or microneedling for at least 10 days.
- Results may take 3-7 days to appear. If desired results are not achieved after 2 weeks, a touch up may be needed.
- Results initially last 3-4 months and can be extended with regular appointments.
Post-Treatment Instructions for DERMAL FILLERS – Juvéderm, Restylane, Sculptra, and Radiesse:
- Avoid significant movement or massage of the treated area.
- Refrain from strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
- Minimize sun exposure and heat for 72 hours.
- Apply a cool compress for 15 minutes per hour if swelling occurs.
- Use Tylenol for discomfort
- Sleep in a face-up, slightly elevated position if experiencing swelling.
- Do not undergo facial/laser treatments or microneedling for at least 10 days.
- Dermal fillers may take up to 3 weeks to fully settle. Touch-ups cannot be performed before 2 weeks after the initial injection.

If you experience severe or persistent pain, swelling, redness, or other unusual symptoms, contact us.
Pre-Treatment Instructions:
- Begin taking Arnica Montana supplements 1-4 days before injections to minimize bruising and swelling.
- Avoid chemical peels for 4 weeks prior to treatment
- Do not use exfoliants or undergo waxing for 2 weeks prior to the treatment.
- Avoid tanning or using tanning creams for 4 weeks prior to treatment.
- Avoid irritating skin care products (Retin-A, Alpha Ret, etc.) for 1 week before the treatment.
Post-Treatment Instructions:
For approximately 48 hours after treatment (or until redness is reduced):
- Avoid extensive sun or heat exposure
- Avoid wearing makeup. Mineral sunscreen can be applied after 24 hours.
- Avoid strenuous exercises and sauna or getting a massage
- Avoid swimming pools, hot showers, baths, tubs or saunas
- Avoid alcoholic beverages
- Do not shave
- Drink plenty of water
What to expect:
You may feel mild discomfort, swelling, redness, a “sun-burn” feeling, and irritation may occur for 1-3 days after the treatment. Soreness, numbness, and tingling is normal after your treatment. All discomfort usually resolves within 2 weeks. Expect a textured feeling to your skin with minimal scabs that can last approximately one week. Avoid picking or scratching the treated area.
At home care for discomfort:
You may use OTC ibuprofen or acetaminophen if needed for swelling/inflammation. OTC antihistamines such as Benadryl or Zantac may be used to ease itching.. Cold packs may be applied post treatment to ease any temporary discomfort. If the skin is broken or a blister appears, contact us.
Skin Care:
Keep the skin moisturized post-procedure with our recommended skin care. You may wash your face gently and shower after your procedure. Avoid hot showers. Avoid retinols for at least 5 days after the procedure. Do not use exfoliants, scrub brushes, or loofah sponges until the treatment area has healed. Wait 4 weeks before undergoing laser hair removal, chemical peels, or waxing.
Exercise & Sun:
Avoid extreme exercise for 1-3 days following your procedure. Increase exercise amount gradually. Avoid any sun exposure to the treated area for the 7 days. Protect the area from excess sun for 2-6 months, wearing sun block (SPF 30 or higher) if you must be in the sun.

OTC ibuprofen or acetaminophen may be used if needed for swelling/inflammation. Sleep in a face-up, slightly elevated position if experiencing swelling.
Exercise & Sun:
Refrain from strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, and activities that may strain the treated areas for at least one week. Avoid exposure to excessive heat, such as saunas, hot tubs, and sunbathing, for one week after the treatment.
