Do you hate your acne scars? Has the sun inflicted your skin with hyperpigmentation? Or do your wrinkles just seem extra noticeable lately? If you answered yes to any of these questions the VI Peel may be for you! The peel is a medium-strength, medical-grade chemical peel that is known to minimize the signs of sun-damage, fine lines, and uneven skin texture.
The peel is also known to target acne—in fact, the peel’s creator, Dr. Abdala F. Kalil, formulated it as a way to treat his teenage daughter’s stubborn breakouts. It removed both the top layer of skin and the uppermost section of the underlying dermal layers, allowing them to be replaced by smoother, brighter skin.

What is the VI Peel?
The VI Peel addresses fine lines and wrinkles, acne and acne scarring, hyperpigmentation due to sun damage and melasma, and promotes overall smoother skin texture by refining pores, controlling oil, and stimulating collagen production. All of this can be achieved with minimal downtime and discomfort! It is a great treatment for all age groups that desire radiant skin.
The synergistic blend of active ingredients including trichloroacetic acid (TCA), retinoic acid, salicylic acid, phenol, vitamin C, and a blend of minerals, make this medical-grade chemical peel stand out from the rest. It also contains pain-numbing ingredients to lessen the burning sensation—doing away with it altogether for some patients.
How does it benefit my skin?
There are five different versions of the VI Peel available, each tailored to a specific concern; however, the overall benefits include:
- Reducing acne and surface acne scars
- Diminishing sun spots and hyperpigmentation
- Smoothing over fine lines and wrinkles
The treatment packs a one-two punch for those afflicted with acne, helping treat symptoms while lessening the scars it can leave behind. It smooths skin texture, brightens dark areas, soothes inflammation, and increases collagen to plump damaged skin. Ice pick scars, rolling scars, and boxcar scars can all be treated. Scars respond to the VI Peel differently, and multiple sessions or combination treatment may be necessary.
The peel is ideal for brightening skin, diminishing sunspots, and leaving the complexion with a refreshing glow. The combination of acids, antioxidants, and exfoliants penetrates skin deeply, causing a resurfacing process that stimulates new cell production including collagen and elastin for a smoother, firmer, more youthful appearance.
Some versions deliver more intense, specialized treatments, such as the VI Peel Purify Precision Plus, used on acne-prone skin and acne scarring. Once you schedule your VI Peel consultation, we can help you decide which version is best for you.
How do I prepare for it?
For the week leading up to your medical-grade chemical peel, stop using prescription retinoids as well as any products that contain alpha hydroxy acids, like glycolic acid; beta hydroxy acids, like salicylic acid; or benzoyl peroxide. Also avoid waxing, electrolysis, depilatory creams, and laser hair removal a week before the procedure. These ingredients and treatments can temporarily weaken the integrity of the skin’s protective barrier and make skin more prone to burning and irritation.
How long do the results last?
You’ll see your final results about seven days after the peeling stops, and the length in which your results last will vary person-to-person. However, many patients can see results, often fairly dramatic, after only one peel. Depending on your damage you may need a series of treatments for optimal results. After you achieve the results you desire, a treatment every three months can help maintain them. Your results can be extended if you take good care of your skin, including using sunscreen daily.
